Before you start, open the directions by click the image below or in Google Classroom: #072 Digital Portfolio

Next , choose another writing sample to include in your portfolio. This may be a poem or something you wrote in weekly pages. You may also choose something you wrote in another class.

You can search by the word “argument” or follow this workflow: Google Drive > Classroom folder > English 7 folder > search for your writing

3) Add the student choice writing Doc to Your Portfolio Site and Write Your Reflection

Complete today’s weekly work chart. Spend 10 minutes on late work or on To do when you are done.

Most students spend the Golden 10 revising the argument draft from my feedback. To see my comments, click on the assignment titled Argument Draft in Google Classroom.

Notice I have recorded STRENGTHS & STRETCHES. Strengths are what you did well. Stretches are things for you to improve in order to make your argument better.

 

After you read your feedback, please reply back with a question or comment.

 

After you revise your draft, complete the Request a Regrade form.

 

2) Newsela: “Anne Frank”

In preparation for tomorrow’s assembly, read the Newsela article assigned to you about Anne Frank. Click HERE for the article. Be sure to sign in with Google.

1) Read / Log / Book Talk

Read for 15 minutes.

Complete this week’s #BookLove Reading Log.

Participate in book talks by giving a book talk or by jotting down titles in your Next Reads list.

 

2) Give Speech / Listen to Classmates and Take Notes

On your notes, write each speaker’s name, topic, and check agree / disagree based on what you think about the claim.

 

3) Vote!

Vote on the top three speakers. You will find the voting form in Google classroom. Justify your choices with three reasons. Keep in mind the following learning targets for a point 3.0 score:

The speaker will—
– Introduce a clear claim about a controversial issue.
– Acknowledge alternate or opposing claims.
– Organize reasons and evidence logically.
– Maintain a formal style, avoiding slang or texting language.
– Conclude with a final thought on the controversial issue.

AND

– Use eye contact and adequate volume (speak loud enough for people to hear).
– Pronounce words clearly.
